Your Step-by-Step Application Guide
Applying for the EmPower+ program just got a little different. NYSERDA is no longer accepting applications directly from contractors. This means you need to apply yourself through the MyEnergy Portal.
While this change might seem confusing, we’re here to make it simple. Follow these three easy steps to ensure your application is submitted correctly and you get the benefits you deserve.
Step 1: Gather Your Documents
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary documents ready.
This will make the application process much faster and smoother. Here’s what you’ll need.
Proof of Income
Most recent tax return (Form 1040 Pgs. 1 & 2)
or one of the following:
4 most recent Paystubs,
HEAP or SNAP award letter,
and SSI, SSDI award letter
Proof of Ownership
One of the following:
Deed.
Recent school or property tax bill.
Mortgage statement.
Bill of sale mobile homes.
Renters signed agreement and proof of ownership.
Energy Usage
All that apply:
National Grid Bill
NYSEG Bill
Oil, Kerosene, Propane 12-Month Fuel Statement
Wood, Pellets, Coal etc. require handwritten statement of approximate amount used in the last 12 months
Step 2: Follow Our Guided Demo
Our video is a guided checklist to ensure you don’t miss any key elements of the application process.
We’ll walk you through each screen to make sure your submission is complete and accurate.
On Step 3 and Step 6 of the application, you have the option to select a desired contractor. Please select Upstate Spray Foam! If you do not make a selection, your enrollment will enter an open pool and has the potential to be bounced around from contractor to contractor. By choosing us, you guarantee a seamless and reliable process with a team you know and trust.
Step 3: You're Ready to Submit!
Once you have your documents and have followed our guided walkthrough, you’re ready to submit your EmPower+ application.

Remember: On Step 3 and Step 6, make sure to have selected Upstate Spray Foam!
